The Appalachian State Mountaineers will be trying to find some consistency to finish the year after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 5 games, including a 69-67 win over Little Rock in their last outing. Justin Forrest and Ronshad Shabazz tied for the team-high with 18 points apiece, with Forrest shooting 7 of 11 from the floor with a team-high 4 assists while Shabazz shot 5 of 15 with 4 threes as the only pair of double digit scorers for App State in the win. Griffin Kinney chipped in 9 points with a team-high 7 rebounds as well in the winning effort for the Mountaineers. Shabazz leads Appalachian State with an average of 19.2 points and 3 assists per game while Isaac Johnson leads the Mountaineers in rebounding with 8.4 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Appalachian State is scoring 76.1 points per game on 43.7% shooting from the field, 34.4% from behind the arc and 65.7% from the foul line this season.
Coastal Carolina is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a losing record and 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 road games while the over is 5-0-1 in their last 6 Saturday games. Appalachian State is 7-19 ATS in their last 26 games following a win and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 home games.
This line is a little bit surprising to me in all honesty. I know Appalachian State is at home, but the trends point to the Chanticleers given how well Coastal has played on the road as of late and how inconsistent App State has been at home. All in all I think this is a game the Chanticleers can steal, so I’ll take the free bucket with Coastal Carolina here.
