Saturday college basketball action brings us a SoCon quarterfinal bout between the Western Carolina Catamounts and the Furman Paladins.
The Western Carolina Catamounts finished 6th in the conference but could have finished higher if not for a late five game slide. Western Carolina ended the regular season with a 92-75 rout of the Citadel where the defense allowed just 33.3% marksmanship to make their own 43.2% accuracy a winner.

The balanced Catamounts offense saw Jason McMillan score 19 points and post nine boards followed by Mike Amius with 16 points and seven rebounds. Devin Peterson gave WCU 14 points and seven helpers while Marc Gosselin added 13 points and 12 rebounds.
The third seed Furman Paladins finished the regular season with a flurry with six consecutive victories capped off by a 79-76 win at ETSU. Furman was outshot 50.9%-45.3% but squeezed by on a 21-12 advantage at the foul line.
Devin Sibley topped the Paladins scoring with 17 points and six rebounds with Matt Rafferty adding 14 points and six boards. The twosome of John Davis III and Daniel Fowler gave Furman 12 points apiece while Andrew Brown contributed eleven points.
