The Marquette Golden Eagles improved to 17-12 (8-9 Big East) on the season after defeating the Georgetown Hoyas, 90-86 in OT, this past Monday. Marquette allowed Georgetown to force OT after the Hoyas made the game-tying lay-up with just 1 second left in regulation, however, the Golden Eagles were able to pull out the victory two Andrew Rowsey FT’s gave Marquette a 4-point lead with 11 seconds left in overtime. Marquette shot 50.8% from the field and 58.1% (18-31) from beyond the arc in the win. The Bluejays are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall and just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Golden Eagles are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record however, are just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following an ATS win.
Creighton followed up their huge victory over Villanova with a convincing victory against DePaul and has been led this season by their offense that ranks 9th in scoring offense, 8th in FG%, and 12th in three-pointers made per game. Marquette has won 3 of their last 4 games and has also been led by their offense that ranks 35th in scoring offense, 52nd in FG%, and 7th in both three-pointers made per game and 3P-FG%. Although Creighton’s offense could easily go off for 90+ points against the weak Marquette defense, the Bluejays couldn’t get past the Golden Flashes at home just a couple weeks ago and as I like how Marquette has looked recently, I think the Golden Flashes offense does enough to cover this small home spread.
