We have some Mountain West conference college basketball action on Saturday as the UNLV Rebels face off against the Utah State Aggies.
The UNLV Rebels will simply be looking to end the year on a high note after losing 4 straight games, including a 101-75 beatdown at the hands of Nevada in their last outing. Brandon McCoy led UNLV with 19 points on 8 of 16 shooting with a team-high 17 rebounds while Shakur Juiston came 2nd with 14 points to match his 14 rebounds for a double-double of his own. Jordan Johnson added 11 points with a pair of blocks and a team-high 5 assists while Terrell Beck added 10 points to round out the scoring in double figures for UNLV in the loss. McCoy leads UNLV by averaging a double-double per game with 16.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per game while Jordan Johnson leads the Rebels in assists with 5.9 assists per game this season. As a team, UNLV is scoring 83.8 points per game on 49.1% shooting from the field, 33.5% from behind the arc and 70.3% from the foul line this season.

The Utah State Aggies will also be looking to snap a 4 game losing streak of their own following a 64-62 loss to San Jose State in their last outing. Sam Merrill led the Aggies with 26 points on 9 of 16 shooting with 7 threes while Daron Henson added 10 points with 3 triples of his own as the only other Aggie to score in double figures in the loss. Quinn Taylor also chipped in 4 points with team-highs of 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks in the losing effort. Merrill leads Utah State with an average of 16.1 points and 3 assists per game while Dwayne Brown Jr. leads the Aggies on the glass with 5.2 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Utah State is scoring 72.9 points per game on 46% shooting from the field, 36.5% from behind the arc and 69.1% from the foul line this season.
UNLV is 5-21-4 ATS in their last 30 road games and 13-35-3 ATS in their last 51 conference matchups while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall. Utah State is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Saturday games while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record. The over is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
This line would surprise a lot of people on the surface. However anyone who has followed me knows that I fade UNLV on the road as the Rebels rarely know how to cover a spread away from home. Utah State isn’t much better, but they’re at home and special stuff tends to happen on senior day at home, so I’ll lay the bucket with Utah State here, but the best bet is to probably just watch this game.
