In SWAC Tournament college basketball action from H.O. Clemmons Arena on Tuesday, the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils will be taking on the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions.
Mississippi Valley State enters this game with a 4-27 record overall. The Devils have lost two of their last three games, and fell to Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday. In that one, Mississippi Valley State forward Dante Scott put up 20 points.
USA TODAY Sports
On the season, Scott is averaging 14.9 PPG with 5.6 RPG to lead the Devils. Also in double-figures for Mississippi Valley State is Jordan Evans, with 14.5 PPG and 3.0 RPG to his credit this year.
Over on the Arkansas-Pine Bluff side, they’re currently 12-20 this year. The Lions have won three of their last four games, and took out the Delta Devils in their last appearance Saturday. In that victory, APB guard Martaveous McKnight put up 18 points.
McKnight is the leading scorer for the Golden Lions this season with 18.4 PPG and 4.2 RPG. He’s the only Arkansas-Pine Bluff player averaging in double-figures, but Travon Harper is close on 9.9 PPG.
Mississippi Valley State is 5-0 ATS in their last five road games and 7-0 ATS in their last seven overall. The Devils are also 6-0 ATS in their last six versus the SWAC and 5-1 ATS in their last six Tuesday games.
Meanwhile, the Lions are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 versus the SWAC. Arkansas-Pine Bluff is also 5-2 ATS in their last seven following a straight-up win and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
There’s not a whole lot to get excited about when it comes to the Devils this year, and they’ve lost both matches between these teams this year 80-71 at home and 94-57 on the road. Arkansas-Pine Bluff isn’t necessarily a strong team either, but they should dominate here. I’ll take the Lions.
