The Big Sky college basketball tournament gets underway with the Sacramento State Hornets facing the Portland State Vikings.
The Sacramento State Hornets were winless for a month before winning the regular season finale’ 88-77 versus Northern Colorado. Sacramento State won the shooting battle 47.7%-44.1% including a 10-21 effort from beyond the arc.

The Hornets leaned on Justin Strings and exploded for 30 points on 12-23 followed by Jordan Tolbert with 20 points, five pulls and eight assists on 7-18. Sacramento State received eleven points and five yanks from Calvin Martin on 3-5 with Joshua Patton chipping with eight points.
The Portland State Vikings are trying to extend their season and survive the loss of leading scorer Deontae North (suspension). Portland State has won four of five heading in to the Big Sky tourney after a 97-90 OT win versus North Dakota where a 48.6%-47.8% shooting edge with a few more shots was decisive.
Bryce Canda carried the Vikings with a game high 24 points and eight boards with Brandon Hollins adding 18 points and 13 rebounds. Ryan Edwards gave Portland State 14 points followed by Deante Strickland and Holland Woods with 12 and ten points.
