The America East college basketball playoffs continue with the Hartford Hawks facing the UMBC Retrievers in a semifinal bout.
Hartford advanced to the conference semifinals with a solid defensive effort in a 71 60 victory versus New Hampshire where the Wildcats were held to 22 first half points. Hartford held a 46.8%-34.4% shooting edge and sank 14 more free throws.

John Carroll was the top Hawks weapon with 21 points and six boards on 5-12 and 11-13 at the stripe. JR Lynch gave Hartford 19 points, six rebounds on 7-11 and 4-6 at the stripe while Jason Dunne adding 15 points, five pulls and four steals on 4-14.
The UMBC Retrievers rallied past the UMass River Hawks 89-77 to move on to the conference semis. UMBC trailed 49-38 heading to the locker room before both ends of the floor were dominant over the final 20 minutes behind a 50.8%-41.7% difference in shooting.
The balanced Retrievers attack received 18 points, seven rebounds and five steals from Jairus Lyles while Kj Maura and Jourdan Grant netting 16 points apiece. UMBC saw Daniel Akin add eleven points and five boards followed by Joe Sherburne with ten points and six rebounds.
Hartford are 11-1-1 ATS in their last 13 games overall and Hartford are 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 road games. Over is 7-1 in UMBC last 8 home games and over is 9-2 in UMBC last 11 vs. America East and over is 14-5 in UMBC last 19 overall.
