In Sun Belt Tournament college basketball action from Lakefront Arena on Friday, the Troy Trojans will be meeting up with the Georgia State Panthers.

Troy enters this game with a 16-16 record overall. The Trojans have won three of their last four games, and took out South Alabama in tournament action on Wednesday. In that one, Troy forward Jordon Varnado put up 22 points.

Varnado leads the Trojans on the year with 18.1 PPG and 7.0 RPG, while Wesley Person sits at 17.8 PPG. Also in double-figures for Troy this season is Alex Hicks with 12.0 PPG and 8.5 RPG to his name.

Over on the Georgia State side, they’re sitting at 21-10 on the season. The Panthers had lost four of five games before taking a sizable win over South Alabama on Saturday. In that game, Georgia State guard Isaiah Williams put up 23 points.

Leading the way for the Panthers on the season is D’Marcus Simonds with 21.5 PPG. Also in the double-digit club for Georgia State are Devin Mitchell (12.5 PPG) and Jeff Thomas (10.6 PPG; 4.4 RPG).

The Trojans are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 neutral-site games and 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 Friday games. Troy is also 3-8 ATS in their last 11 following a straight-up win and 1-5 ATS in their last six following an ATS win.

Meanwhile, the Panthers are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 following a straight-up win and the over is 8-1 in their last nine overall. The over is also 8-1 Georgia State’s last nine versus the Sun Belt and the under is 5-1 in the last six neutral-site games.

Troy has been scoring pretty well lately, but they’re also giving up a lot of points on the other side. The Trojans have won both meetings between these teams this year, 68-66 and 83-70, so it should be a tight one. I’m going to go with the Trojans to eke out a cover here in what ought to be a high-scoring affair.
