Out at Amway Center on Friday, the UCF Knights will be taking on the Houston Cougars in AAC Tournament college basketball action.

UCF enters this game with a 19-12 record overall. The Knights were sitting at 17-12 back at the beginning of the month, but have since won two consecutive games including a 66-52 victory over East Carolina in tournament action Thursday.

In that East Carolina victory, UCF’s BJ Taylor was the top scorer on 17 points with three rebounds and four assists. AJ Davis also had a nice game for the Knights with his 14 points on the evening.

Over on the Houston side, they’re sitting at 24-6 on the season. The Cougars have won three straight games, most recently on Sunday versus UConn. In that game, Houston guard Rob Gray put up 30 points.

Gray leads the Cougars on the year in scoring as well with 18.1 PPG and 4.7 APG. Also in the double-digit club for Houston are Corey Davis (13.4 PPG), Devin Davis (10.7 PPG) and Armani Brooks (10.2 PPG).

UCF is 5-1 ATS in their last six Friday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five following an ATS win. Central Florida is also 6-2 ATS in their last eight overall and 6-2 ATS in their last eight versus the AAC.

Meanwhile, Houston is 4-1 ATS in their last five games following an ATS loss and 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine overall. The Cougars are also 2-5 ATS in their last seven neutral-site games and 0-4 ATS in their last four Friday games.

The lone game between these two teams this year came back on February 3, and Houston won that one 69-65. I’m not terribly thrilled by the UCF offense right now, as they’ve hit 67 points just once in their last six games. I’m leaning toward Houston here.
