In that 71-68 OT victory over Middle Tennessee, Southern Miss guard Cortez Edwards managed 23 points to lead the team along with six rebounds. Dominic Magee also had a nice outing for the Eagles on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Over on the Marshall side, they’re sitting at 22-10 on the year. The Herd had a five-game win streak going back in February, but then lost two of three games before winning their most recent two versus Middle Tennessee and UTSA.
In that 95-81 Thursday win, Marshall’s leading scorer was CJ Burks with 29 points and nine rebounds. Also with a nice game was Ajdin Penava, who doubled up on 23 points and 12 rebounds.
The Eagles are 4-1 ATS in their last five following an ATS win and 4-1 ATS in their last five neutral-site games. Southern Miss is also 6-2 ATS in their last eight following a straight-up win and the over is 4-0 in their last four neutral-site games.
Meanwhile, the Herd are 4-1 ATS in their last five neutral-site games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight overall. Marshall are also 6-2 ATS in their last eight versus CUSA and the over is 4-1 in their last five overall.
After failing to hit 70 points in all four games of that losing streak, the Golden Eagles have been better as of late with at least 71 in two of their last three. The lone game between these two teams came way back on December 28, with Marshall taking an 85-66 home win. All things considered, the Herd shouldn’t have too many problems here.
