The Friars took a thrilling 72-68 OT win over Creighton in tournament action on Thursday. In that game, Providence’s leading scorer was Alpha Diallo with 19 points and nine rebounds. Guard Jalen Lindsey also had a nice outing for the Friars, doubling up on 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Over on the Xavier side, they’re sitting at 28-4 on the season. The Musketeers lost two consecutive games back in early January, but have recorded just one loss since then and are sitting on four straight victories.
Xavier took out St. John’s in a tourney game Thursday 88-60. In that win, Xavier guard Trevon Bluiett led the team on 27 points with seven rebounds. Kaiser Gates also helped out the Musketeers with 16 bench points.
The Friars are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Friday games and 17-8 ATS in the last 25 neutral-site games. Providence is also 1-4 ATS in the last five games following an ATS win and the under is 8-3 in their last 11 overall.
Meanwhile, the Musketeers are 5-1 ATS in their last six Friday games and 20-6 ATS in their last 26 neutral-site games. Xavier is also 28-12 ATS in their last 40 games overall and the over is 8-2 in their last 10 Friday games.
Providence has been recording the Ws lately, and they sure have been making it interesting. Each of the Friars’ last six wins have come by five points or fewer. Providence even won 81-72 versus Xavier back on January 6, but lost in the second meeting on the road 84-74 on February 28. With the way the Musketeers have been scoring lately, I’m going to go with Xavier to cover here.
