The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers take the floor with the Marshall Thundering Herd in the CUSA college basketball championship.
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers turned to their defense in a 57-49 win versus Old Dominion on Friday in the CUSA semifinals. Both teams sank shots at around 37% with Western Kentucky holding a decisive 18-10 advantage at the foul line.

Justin Johnson carried the Hilltoppers with 19 points and 13 rebounds on 7-12 shooting and 3-7 at the line. Taneion Hollingsworth gave Western Kentucky eleven points on 3-9 and 5-6 at the stripe while Lamonte Bearden added seven points and four helpers.
The Marshall Thundering Herd advanced to the CUSA title game after upending a stubborn Southern Miss 85-75 on Friday. Marshall took a 20 point lead in to the break behind a 51%-45.2% shooting advantage and a 21-11 edge at the charity stripe.
Jon Elmore was the top weapon for the Thundering Herd with 26 points, nine rebounds and nine assists followed by a 17 point, five pull effort from Jannson Williams. Marshall saw 13 points, six boards and six helpers from CJ Burks while Ajdin Penava and Jarrod West tossed in 12 points each.
Both teams are capable of winning but the difference could be the pace. The Thundering Herd will look to push the ball and keep things fast. I think the Hilltoppers are better but I’m taking the points…
