Abilene Christian had four players score in double figures with center Jalone Friday and guard Jaren Lewis both averaging over 13 points and combining for 13.6 rebounds. Tevin Foster gave the Wildcats 12 points while Jaylen Franklin averaged 10.7 points and four boards.
The Drake Bulldogs finished 4th in the Missouri Valley with a 10-8 record which was just a game out of second. Drake closed the season with three straight losses including a 63-61 loss to Bradley in the conference playoffs. The Bulldogs sored 73.6 points and allowed 73.2 so there wasn’t a lot of room for error.
Reed Timmer was easily the best player for Drake and one of the best in the conference with 19.5 points on 46.2% shooting with a 42.9% mark on three pointers. Nick McGlynn and De’Antae McMurry combined for 21 points and 9.6 rebounds but both will need to do more if Timmer has an ‘off’ game.
Over is 7-2 in Drake last 9 Monday games and Drake are 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 home games and over is 23-11 in Drake last 34 home games. Over is 5-1 in Bulldogs last 6 non-conference games.
Neither team is the type that flourishes in shootouts so both will try to control the scoreboard. Abilene Christian is the unknown here because they play in the Southland but I do favor Drake, the over or perhaps the team total over...
