Coming up on Tuesday from UD Arena, we’ve got NCAA Tournament First Four college basketball action coming as the Radford Highlanders take on the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds.
LIU Brooklyn enters this game with an 18-16 record overall. The Blackbirds are sitting on a five-game win streak, and took out Wagner in their last appearance on March 6. In that one, LIU Brooklyn guard Joel Hernandez put up 32 points.
USA TODAY Sports
Hernandez leads the Blackbirds in scoring on the year with 20.9 PPG and 5.9 RPG, and Raiquan Clark has 17.4 PPG and 7.1 RPG. Also in double-figures for LIU Brooklyn are Joshua Agosto (11.7 PPG) and Julian Batts (10.0 PPG).
As for Radford, they’re sitting at 22-12 on the year. The Highlanders have rattled off a seven-game winning streak, capped off by a March 4 win over Liberty in their last game. In that one, Radford’s Carlik Jones scored 13 points and the game-winner.
Ed Polite is the top scorer for Radford this year with 13.5 PPG and 7.7 RPG, while Jones has 11.8 PPG. They’re the only two Highlanders players averaging in double-figures this year.
The Highlanders are 5-2 ATS in their last seven non-conference games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a straight-up win. Radford is also 3-8 ATS in their last 11 neutral-site games and the under is 4-0 in their last four overall.
Meanwhile, LIU Brooklyn is 14-6 ATS in their last 20 following a straight-up win and 2-6 ATS in their last eight non-conference games. The Blackbirds are also 0-4 ATS in the last four following an ATS win and 0-6 ATS in their last six neutral-site games.
LIU Brooklyn has been playing quite well during this winning streak, and they’ve called at least 71 points in each of their last 10 games. As for Radford, they haven’t been scoring as well, but rely on defense lately with 68 or fewer points allowed in each of their last nine games. The Highlanders will want to slow the game down here and keep the Blackbirds from running. It should be an interesting matchup. Cover-wise, I like LIU Brooklyn a little better however.
