The Rider Broncs and UCF Knights meet Tuesday in college basketball action at the CFE Arena.
The Rider Broncs are coming off one of their more recent successful seasons in which they won 22 games and made the first round of the NIT. Rider should like its chances to improve on last years success considering its top-six scorers return. Dimencio Vaughn, Jordan Allen, Frederick Scott, Stevie Jordan and Tyere Marshall are all double-digit scorers and helped the Broncs average 82 points on 46.5 percent shooting last season. That type of offensive depth and experience coming back should make the Rider Broncs a legit threat to win the MAAC this season. Rider just needs to improve defensively, as it’s tough to outscore teams on a nightly basis by simply trading baskets every time it takes the court. The Rider Broncs have won six of their last nine road games.

The UCF Knights enter their third season under coach Johnny Dawkins and have won 43 games the last two years. UCF should once again be one of the best defensive teams in the country with Tacko Fall returning, one of the tallest and most effective rim protectors in college basketball. UCF also has depth returning in Dayon Griffin, Ceasar DeJesus and Terrell Allen, all guys who defend well, create for others and played a lot of minutes last year. The difference for UCF will be the health of B.J. Taylor, as he’s possibly the only guy for the Knights who can create his own shot and consistently get buckets. Taylor played in only 16 games last year, and he scored 20 or more points in seven of those games. A healthy Taylor makes the UCF Knights an AAC contender. The UCF Knights have won nine of their last 12 home games.
The Broncs are 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 road games, 1-6 ATS in their last 7 Tuesday games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Knights are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games and 20-7 ATS in their last 27 home games. The over is 10-4 in Knights last 14 overall and the over is 19-7 in Broncs last 26 overall.
The Rider Broncs are an experienced and talented team to the point they could win this game outright if those shots are falling. The problem I have is that UCF is just too damn good defensively and doesn't give up easy shots. If this ends up being a halfcourt game, which mostare with UCF, the Knights could eventually open this thing up. I'm leaning toward the chalk, but this has the potential to be a good game for 40 minutes.
