The Norfolk State Spartans and Michigan Wolverines meet Tuesday in college basketball action at the Crisler Center.
The Norfolk State Spartans won 14 games last season and ended their season in the MEAC Tournament quarterfinals. Norfolk State lost some of their depth from a year ago, but they return their top-two players in Steven Whitley and Alex Long, a duo that combined for 22.7 points, 11.5 rebounds and 5.6 assists. Derrik Jamerson Jr. could be a serious weapon for the Spartans considering he shot 39.9 percent from deep last season on 5.7 attempts. The Norfolk State Spartans are going to surprise some people this season, and they’ll certainly be ready for conference play with some of the games they have scheduled in November. The Norfolk State Spartans have won four of their last six road games.

The Michigan Wolverines won 33 games last season and came up just short in the national title game. Michigan won’t look the same as they did a few months ago, but Charles Matthews returns after averaging 13 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists, while Zavier Simpson averaged 7.3 points and 3.7 assists. Jordan Poole proved to be a big shotmaker down the stretch and Jon Teske averaged a little over 12 minutes per game. Michigan also has a decent recruiting class, which is led by Iggy Brazdeikis, who can play multiple positions for the Wolverines. Repeating last year won’t be easy, but the Michigan Wolverines have enough in place to be another tough out in the Big Ten. The Michigan Wolverines have won six straight home games.
The Spartans are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Tuesday games, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The Wolverines are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 Tuesday games, 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 35-17-3 ATS in their last 55 games overall. The over is 4-1 in Spartans last 5 overall and the under is 5-1-1 in Wolverines last 7 overall.
The Michigan Wolverines probably won't be national title runner ups this season, but there's still more than enough to make the big dance and beat up on lesser teams. The Norfolk State Spartans don't have the depth or the outside shooting to hang around in this contest. Wolverines in a blowout.
