The American Eagles and the George Mason Patriots will be meeting up at EagleBank Arena on Friday on the college basketball circuit.
American enters this season coming off a 6-24 campaign last year with a 3-15 mark in Patriot League play. In the first round of the Patriot League Tournament, the Eagles fell to Lafayette to end their year.

American loses a few walk-on players and a transfer this year, but is otherwise intact. Bringing in new blood for the Eagles will be recruits Jacob Boonyasith (SG) and Josh Alexander (PF).
Over on the George Mason side, they went 16-17 on the season last year, with a 9-9 mark in A-10 play. In the A-10 Tournament, the Patriots took out Massachusetts but dropped to Saint Joseph’s in the quarters.
George Mason kicked off their year with a loss to Penn this week. The Patriots’ leading scorer in that one was Jarred Reuter, with 15 points, four rebounds and an assist. Otis Livingston and Justin Kier chipped in 12 points apiece.
The Eagles are 4-0 ATS in their last four Friday games and 0-4 ATS in their last four road games. American is 0-6 ATS in their last six overall and the under is 4-1 in their last five Friday games.
Meanwhile, the Patriots are 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the Patriot League and 0-4 ATS in their last four Friday games. George Mason is 0-5 ATS in their last five non-conference games and the over is 13-5 in their last 18 overall.
Well, George Mason started out okay in their first game and had the lead going into halftime but were outscored in the second 39-34. The Patriots need to shuffle things around a bit to try and find a way to ensure scoring and rebounding down the stretch.
In any case, American shouldn’t pose much of an issue for the Patriots, so I’m still taking them to cover.
