The Bowling Green Falcons will take on the St. John’s Red Storm Friday on the college basketball circuit from Carnesecca Arena.
Bowling Green enters this season following a 16-16 overall record last year, going 7-11 in conference play. In the first round of the MAC Tournament, the Falcons fell to Central Michigan 81-77 to finish off their hopes for good.

The Falcons came out firing in their first action of the season, taking out Tiffin University 91-52. Leading the charge for the Falcons in that one was Dylan Frye, who logged 20 points with five rebounds. Demajeo Wiggins managed a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Over on the St. John’s side, they’re fresh off a 16-17 season last year, with a 4-14 mark in Big East play. The Storm took out Georgetown in the Big East Tournament but fell to Xavier in the quarters.
St. John’s put up a solid effort in their opener as well, with a 76-55 win over Loyola. Heading up the scoring for the Storm in that one was Shamorie Ponds with 20 points and four assists, while Mustapha Heron logged 15 points and seven rebounds.
The Falcons are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 overall. Bowling Green is 1-4 ATS in their last five non-conference games and 4-0 ATS in their last four following a straight-up win.
Meanwhile, the Storm are 3-10-1 ATS in their last 14 Friday games and the under is 7-2 in their last nine games following an ATS loss. The over is 7-3 in St. John’s last 10 overall and the under is 13-6 in their last 19 Friday games.
Overall, I’m not super-jazzed about either one of these teams, but St. John’s does have some talent coming back this year and could very well take a big step forward, especially if Heron manages to have a solid year.
I’m going to go with the Red Storm here, and I don’t think they will have a whole lot of trouble.
