The Miami (OH) RedHawks and Butler Bulldogs meet Saturday in college basketball action at the Hinkle Fieldhouse.
The Miami (OH) RedHawks won 16 games last season that ended with a first round exit in the CBI. The Miami (OH) RedHawks have to like their chances of building on last years success considering they return six of their seven top scorers from last season. Getting back Nike Sibande is the most important, as he averaged 15.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists on 41.4 percent shooting. However, Darrian Ringo, Jalen Adaway, Dalonte Brown and Bam Bowman all contributed last year and should be able to take another step forward. The Miami (OH) RedHawks have to be considered a strong contender in the MAC this season with all the returning production. The Miami (OH) RedHawks have lost five of their last six road games.

The Butler Bulldogs won 21 games last season that ended with an exit in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Butler lost its best player in Kelan Martin, but it returns a good portion of last years contributors, including a duo of Kamar Baldwin and Paul Jorgensen, which produced an average of 25.9 points, eight rebounds and 5.7 assists. Sean McDermott averaged 7.5 points and 3.9 rebounds on good three-point shooting and Nate Fowler played over 17 minutes per game last season. The Butler Bulldogs have more than enough to compete in the Big East yet again and make a run for a spot in the big dance. The Butler Bulldogs have won five of their last seven home games.
The Red Hawks are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 vs. Big East. The Bulldogs are 14-5 ATS in their last 19 home games, 9-4 ATS in their last 13 Saturday games and 40-19-1 ATS in their last 60 non-conference games. The over is 10-3 in Bulldogs last 13 home games and the over is 5-2 in Red Hawks last 7 non-conference games.
While the Butler Bulldogs will end up being the better team at the end of the year, is better coached and has the better top tier talent, this is too many points to lay for two teams making their season debut. The Miami (OH) RedHawks return a ton of production from last season and have a guy in Sibande, who can take over a game for stretches. I'm not looking to lay this many points on the table with an experienced team.
