The 17th ranked Florida State Seminoles will travel to Devlin Fieldhouse to take on the Tulane Green Wave this Sunday night in College Basketball action.

The 17th ranked Florida State Seminoles look to make it 2-0 on the season after they opened up their season with an impressive 81-60 victory over the Florida Gators this past Tuesday. Florida State was outstanding defensively against the Gators and had no trouble securing the victory after a 19-6 run to start the 2nd half gave the Seminoles a 50-26 lead with 13:47 left in regulation. Florida State shot 47.9% from the field while holding Florida to just 37.0% shooting from the field and 25.0% (6-24) from beyond the arc. Florida State outrebounded Florida by a 33-30 margin and forced the Gators into committing 16 turnovers in the victory. Leading the way for the Seminoles was PJ Savoy who had 20 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and a block. Trent Forrest chipped in with 13 points, 5 assists, 1 rebound and a steal while M.J. Walker contributed with 10 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

The Tulane Green Wave are looking to rebound from a tough 14-17 (5-13 AAC) season last year however, it might just an accomplishment for Tulane just to match the 14 wins this season. Tulane started of the season strong last season, even sporting wins against SMU & Houston, however, even with some great players, the Green Wave struggled to pick up wins down the stretch as Tulane lost 11 of their last 13 games. Tulane lost two of their best players in Melvin Frazier Jr. (15.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2.9 apg, 2.1 spg) & Cameron Reynolds (15.1 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 2.2 apg) however, does bring back some experience in Ray Ona Embo (10.1 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.3 apg), Samir Sehic (10.5 ppg, 5.2 rpg), and Jordan Cornish (9.9 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.3 apg). Tulane will hope that Caleb Daniels will be able to take on a bigger role as a starter this season and will hope that incoming freshman Moses Wood can help make an immediate impact for the Green Wave.

The Seminoles are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 road games and 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 non-conference games. The Green Wave are 13-36-3 ATS in their last 52 home games and 0-3-1 ATS in their last vs. games vs. ACC opponents.

Florida State has brought back some great experience in Phil Cofer, Terance Mann, and PG Savoy and with a deep bench and as much athleticism, this team has a great shot to make another deep run in the NCAA Tournament this season. Tulane has to feel they let a decent opportunity to have a good season slip through their fingers last season and unless they can find some answers on the defensive end as they rank just 222nd in scoring defense & 215th in  defensive FG%, it could be a long season for the Green Wave.

Florida State looked great on both ends of the court agianst Florida and as I just don’t see Tulane being able to keep up with the Seminoles in either end of the court, I’m taking Florida State to cover this double-digit road spread.
