In game two versus Menlo, the 49ers took a big win 78-57. Booker was again the leading scorer for Long Beach State in that one with 19 points, while Temidayo Yusuf and KJ Byers each had eight rebounds.
Over on the Arizona State side, they’re 2-0 so far on the year. In the opening 102-94 win over CSUF, Lugentz Dort led the Sun Devils on 28 points, and also shared the rebounds lead (nine) with Zylan Cheatham.
In game two against McNeese State (an 80-52 Devils win), Dort put up 25 points. Cheatham again had a nice game, doubling up with 16 points, 12 rebounds and six assists for Arizona State.
The 49ers are 1-4 ATS in their last five versus the Pac-12 and 1-5 ATS in their last six Monday games. Long Beach State is also 1-4 ATS in their last five following a straight-up win and the under is 7-1 in their last eight overall.
Meanwhile, the Devils are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 versus the Big West and 11-3 ATS in their last 14 non-conference games. Arizona State is 2-5 ATS in the last seven Monday games and 5-15-2 ATS in their last 22 overall.
Long Beach State actually looked pretty good in that tough game versus UCLA, and were hanging around 45-41 at halftime before they let things slip away in the second. Booker and the Niners’ top tier scorers certainly have some ability.
Arizona has been a little up-and-down over these first two games, but overall they’re taking care of business and they’ve got some great higher-end players as well. I think this one may be a little closer than some people think, so I’m going with Long Beach to bag a cover.
