Oakland came out of the gates hot and took an early 21-7 lead, however, Toledo cut that lead to just a 37-36 margin by halftime and the Golden Grizzlies couldn’t back after a 22-7 Rockets run gave Toledo a 72-64 lead with 6:28 left in regulation. Western Michigan had a disappointing season last year and couldn’t make a solid run in the MAC even with one of the better players in the conference in Thomas Wilder. The Broncos no longer have Wilder or Reggie Jones who decided to transfer and although they have brought back some experience, don’t expect to be more than a .500 team this season. Oakland lost a lot of talent for their 19-14 team however, this is a well-coached team that knows how to put points up on the board and as I think they’ll be able to put up plenty of points against the Broncos defense, I’m taking Oakland to cover this small home spread.
