The Northeastern Huskies made their way to the semifinals thanks to a 68-52 win over Alabama in their last outing. Vasa Pusica led the Huskies with 20 points on 6 of 10 shooting, including a perfect 4 for 4 from downtown along with team-highs of 5 assists and 3 steals. Bolden Brace and Jeremy Miller each added 11 points to round out the trio of double-digits scorers for the Huskies in the victory, with Brace shooting 3 of 5 with 5 rebounds while Miller went 4 of 6 from the field. Jordan Roland added 5 points and a team-high 6 rebounds as well in the winning effort. As a team heading into Thursday’s action, Northeastern is averaging 74.3 points per game on 49.3% shooting from the field, 43.1% from behind the 3-point line and 84.1% from the foul line this season.
Virginia Tech is 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games overall and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 non-conference games while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 games following a win. Northeastern is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games against the ACC while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 non-conference games.
Virginia Tech is the best team in the tournament, and while Northeastern is more than capable of pulling off an upset or keeping this game close, I just can't see it as the Hokies are just on another level this early in the year. So as long as the line isn't too crazy, I'll side with Virginia Tech to move on to the championship game.
