The Santa Clara Broncos will be looking for their first win of the season after falling to 0-2 with a 61-49 loss to UC-Irvine in their last outing. Tahj Eaddy and Keshawn Justice tied for the Bronco lead with 11 points with Eaddy adding a team-high 7 rebounds while Justice shot 4 of 8 from the floor with 3 triples in 18 minutes. Guglielmo Caruso added 10 points to round out the scoring in double figures for the Broncos in the losing effort while Trey Wertz added a team-high 4 assists off of the bench. Justice leads Santa Clara in scoring with 13 points per game while Josh Martin leads the Broncos with 9 rebounds per game and the aforementioned Wertz is Santa Clara’s top assist man with 3.5 assists per game this season. As a team, Santa Clara is averaging 56.5 points per game on 33.3% shooting from the field, 28.8% from behind the 3-point line and 55.8% from the foul line this season.

The Washington Huskies will look to build some momentum after scraping out a 66-63 win over San Diego in their last outing. Jaylen Nowell led the Huskies with 18 points on 6 of 11 shooting with a team-high 3 assists while Noah Dickerson added 16 points and a team-high 8 rebounds. Nahziah Carter chipped in 11 points to finish off the trio of double-digit scorers for the Huskies in the winning effort. Hameir Wright added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks while Matisse Thybulle chipped in 6 points and 5 steals as well in the victory. Nowell leads Washington in scoring with 17 points per game while Dickerson leads the Huskies in rebounding with 6.3 rebounds per game and David Crisp is Washington’s top assist man with 2.7 assists per game this season. As a team, Washington is scoring 68.3 points per game on 44.6% shooting from the field, 27.6% shooting from behind the arc and 75.9% from the foul line this season.
Santa Clara is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 3-11-1 ATS in their last 15 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 6-1-1 in their last 8 non-conference games. Washington is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games against the WCC and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 non-conference games while the under is 37-18 in their last 55 games overall.
If Santa Clara had done a better job scoring the basketball, the points could hold some value. However, Washington is easily the better team here, and last time I checked, you’re going to have a hard time covering let alone winning games if you can’t put points on the board the way Santa Clara does. I’ll lay the points with Washington as more of a fade from Santa Clara here.
