Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

On the season, Purdue Fort Wayne is averaging 81.9 ppg on 46.3% shooting from the field. The Mastodons are averaging 9.9 three-pointers per game on 34.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, the Mastodons have been led by John Konchar (16.4 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 4.5 apg), Kason Harrell (14.4 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.8 spg), Matt Holba (12.3 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.1 apg), and Matt Weir (8.0 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 2.8 apg).

Defensively, Purdue Fort Wayne is allowing their opponents to average 78.9 ppg on 47.6% shooting from the field. The Mastodons have a rebound margin of -4.6 and a turnover margin of 4.6.

The Eastern Illinois Panthers had their 3-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 3-3 on the season after being defeated by the UNC Wilmington Seahawks, 82-65, this past Sunday. Eastern Illinois had no answers for the UNC Wilmington offense and couldn’t fight back after they went into halftime trailing by a 45-32 margin. Eastern Illinois shot 43.9% from the field while allowing UNC Wilmington to shoot 55.9% from the field and 52.4% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Panthers was Josiah Wallace who had 19 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal.

On the season, Eastern Illinois is averaging 71.0 ppg on 41.0% shooting from the field. The Panthers are averaging 8.2 three-pointers per game on 35.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Eastern Illinois has been led by Josiah Wallace (17.0 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.2 apg), Rade Kukobat (11.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.5 bpg), Mack Smith (10.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.2 apg), and Ben Harvey (8.8 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.2 apg).

Defensively, Eastern Illinois is allowing their opponents to average 75.7 ppg on 45.4% shooting from the field. The Panthers have a rebound margin of 0.2 and a turnover margin of -0.5.

The Mastodons are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games vs. OVC opponents however, are just 17-35-1 ATS in their last 53 games overall. The Panthers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall.

Purdue Fort Wayne hasn’t lost their scoring punch, even if they no longer have Bryson Scott, as the Mastodons currently rank 66th in scoring offense, however, defense looks like it could be a problem for Purdue Fort Wayne this season as they currently rank just 303rd in scoring defense and 318th in defensive FG%. Eastern Illinois certainly doesn’t blow you away when looking at their statistics however, outside of their recent loss against UNC Wilmington, the Panthers have been a competitive team this season, even giving Texas more of a challenge than they expected in their season opener. Purdue Fort Wayne hasn’t been a solid road team in past years and as I think Eastern Illinois offense will have success at home agianst the Mastodons defense, I’m taking Eastern Illinois to cover in this pick-em.
