The Syracuse Orange and the Ohio State Buckeyes meet in college basketball action from Value City Arena on Wednesday night as part of the 2018 ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
The Syracuse Orange will look for a big road win after improving to 3-2 with a 77-56 win over Colgate in their last outing. Tyus Battle led the Orange with 24 points on 8 of 10 shooting, hitting all 3 of his attempts from downtown while Elijah Hughes and Oshae Brissett each had 17 points with Hughes shooting 7 of 11 with 3 threes while Brissett added 9 rebounds. Bourama Sidibe added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals for the double-double to round out the scoring in double-digits for Syracuse in the win, while Frank Howard added 5 assists and 3 steals of his own. Battle leads Syracuse with 17.6 points and 2.2 assists per game while Brissett leads the Orange with 8.2 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Syracuse is averaging 73.6 points per game on 39.7% shooting from the field, 23.3% from behind the arc and 69.4% from the foul line this season.

The Ohio State Buckeyes will look to remain undefeated after improving to 6-0 on the year with an 89-62 win over Cleveland State in their last outing. Kaleb Wesson led Ohio State with 19 points on 8 of 15 shooting with 6 rebounds and 4 steals while C.j. Jackson added 17 points with 3 threes. Andre Wesson chipped in 11 points and Luther Muhammad added 10 points to round out the quartet of double-digit scorers for Ohio State in the winning effort. Jaedon Ledee added 6 points and a team-high 8 rebounds in just 12 minutes of work for the Buckeyes as well in the win. Wesson leads the Buckeye with an average of 14.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while Keyshawn Woods leads the Buckeyes in assists with 3.3 assists per game this season. As a team, Ohio State is averaging 81 points per game on 50.8% shooting from the field, 39.4% from behind the arc and 73.6% from the foul line this season.
Syracuse is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record and 0-9 ATS in their last 9 games following a win of 20 or more points while the over is 21-8-1 in their last 30 road games. Ohio State is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games against a team with a winning record and 6-14 ATS in their last 20 home games against a team with a losing road record while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games against the ACC.
Syracuse is a tough and experienced bunch and when the zone is working for Syracuse, it can be really tough to crack. However, all of Syracuse’s wins have come at home, and their two losses came on a neutral floor and even then the Orange were simply outplayed in those two losses against better opposition. Ohio State could be due for a clunker at some point, but the Buckeyes have shown the ability to grind out quality wins against Creighton and Cincinnati and I think in Syracuse’s first true road test of the season, Ohio State comes out on top with a win and cover in this one.
