The Belmont Bruins will travel to the Pete Hanna Center to take on the Samford Bulldogs this Thursday night in College Basketball action.

The Belmont Bruins remained undefeated on the young season, improving to 5-0 on the year, after defeating the Kennesaw State Owls, 91-53, this past Saturday. Belmont dominated Kennesaw State on both ends of the court and had no trouble pulling away in the 2nd half for the victory after taking a 45-31 halftime lead. Belmont shot 50.7% from the field while holding Kennesaw State to just 31.3% shooting from the field and 22.2% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bruins was Dylan Windler who had 14 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks, and 3 steals.

On the season, Belmont is averaging 74.6 ppg on 49.1% shooting from the field. The Bruins are averaging 7.4 three-pointers per game on 41.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Belmont has been led by Dylan Windler (17.2 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.6 spg), Nick Muszynski (16.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.8 apg, 3.4 bpg), Caleb Hollander (13.8 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.2 spg), and Kevin McClain (12.8 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 3.2 apg, 2.0 spg).

Defensively, Belmont is allowing their opponents to average 69.6 ppg on 39.3% shooting from the field. The Bruins have a rebound margin of 11.8 and a turnover margin of 1.4.

The Samford Bulldogs won their 2nd straight game and improved to 7-1 on the season after defeating the South Carolina State Bulldogs, 77-60, this past Sunday night. Samford had their way on the offensive end against South Carolina State and pulled away for victory after a 9-0 Bulldogs run gave Samford a 72-58 lead with 2:56 left in regulation. Samford shot 53.8% from the field and 47.1% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Kevion Nolan who had 21 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals in 28 minutes from off the bench.

On the season, Samford is averaging 74.6 ppg on 49.1% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs are averaging 7.4 three-pointers per game on 41.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Samford has been led by Ruben Guerrero (14.1 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 1.5 bpg), Josh Sharkey (13.9 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 6.6 apg, 3.0 spg), Myron Gordon (12.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 1.3 apg), and Brandon Austin (11.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg).

Defensively, Samford is holding their opponents to an average of 64.6 ppg on 36.9% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of 2.6 and a turnover margin of -0.5.

The Bruins are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 non-conference games and 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record. The Bulldogs are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win and 27-10—1 ATS in their last 38 non-conference games.

Both Belmont and Samford have had decent starts to their season however, there is no denying that the Bruins are the more talented of the two teams. Belmont has been outstanding on the offensive end this season as they currently rank 6th in scoring offense & 3rd in FG% and as I’m not sold on Samford as of yet after they lost the majority of their experience to graduation and transfers, I think Belmont does enough on the road in this one to cover this spread.
