The Wyoming Cowboys will look to rebound from a 2-5 start after an 86-78 loss to Evansville in their last outing. Justin James led the charge for Wyoming with a monster game, putting up 34 points on 11 of 24 shooting with an 11 of 14 mark from the foul line along with team-highs of 20 rebounds, 4 assists and a pair of steals. Hunter Thompson added 15 points on 6 of 10 shooting as the only other Wyoming player to score in double figures in the losing effort. James leads the Cowboys by averaging a double-double per game with 24.9 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists per game this season. As a team, Wyoming is averaging 72.1 points per game on 41.5% shooting from the field, 31.2% from behind the 3-point line and 72.5% from the foul line this season.
Northern Colorado is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 non-conference games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Wyoming is 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games overall and 2-12 ATS in their last 14 non-conference games while the over is 10-1 in their last 11 games against the Big Sky.
I’ve said before that I don’t have much faith in the Cowboys this season, as it’s often James or bust for Wyoming and the loss to Evansville was proof of that. I’m a little bit surprised to see Northern Colorado the underdog here, even in essentially a pick ‘em scenario, as the Bears are the far better team offensively here. James may be the best player on the floor, but Northern Colorado is the better overall team and have had much more success ATS than Wyoming, so I’ll take the free point with the Bears in a game I think Northern Colorado wins straight up.
