The BYU Cougars will be out to snap a 3-game losing streak following a 113-103 loss to Weber State in their last outing. Yoeli Childs led the Cougars with 31 points on 13 of 23 shooting with a pair of threes and a team-high 7 rebounds with a pair of blocks. Jahshire Hardnett added 24 points on 11 of 15 shooting as the only other BYU player to finish in double figures scoring in the losing effort. Childs leads BYU by averaging a double-double per game with an average of 22 points and 11.9 rebounds per game while TJ Haws leads the Cougars in assists with 5 assists per game this season. As a team, BYU is averaging 84.7 points per game on 46.3% shooting from the field, 28.3% from behind the arc and 72.6% from the foul line this season.
Utah State is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a win while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games against the WCC. BYU is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a loss while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against the Mountain West. Utah State is 0-5 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
The Aggies have had no success ATS against BYU over the last few years, but I think this low line just goes to speak to how well Utah State has played this season. They’re not world-beaters by any means, but beating Montana State and UC-Irvine by a combined 54 points is pretty darn impressive. BYU has shown ability to score, but can’t keep points off of the board and against a Utah State team that’s better defensively and can keep up on offense, that won’t fly. I’ll take the free bucket with Utah state here.
