Xavier vs. Ohio - 12/5/18 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The Xavier Musketeers will be look to add to their own 3-game winning streak after a 73-63 win over Oakland in their last outing. Naji Marshall led the Musketeers with 14 points on 6 of 10 shooting while Tyrique Jones, Zach Hankins and Ryan Welage each added 11 points with Jones adding 11 rebounds for the double-double while Hankins added 7 rebounds and Welage chipped in 3 threes. Paul Scruggs and Kyle Castlin each had 10 points to round out the scoring in double-digits for Xavier in the win, with Scruggs adding a team-high 4 assists and 3 steals. Marshall leads the Musketeers in scoring with 13.1 points per game while Jones leads Xavier on the glass with 9.2 rebounds per game and Quentin Goodin leads Marshall in assists with 4.3 assists per game this season. As a team, Xavier is averaging 79 points per game on 48.3% shooting from the field, 33.2% from behind the arc and 67.3% from the foul line this season.

Ohio is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games against the Big East and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 road games. Xavier is 1-6-2 ATS in their last 9 home games and 2-7-2 ATS in their last 11 games overall while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 non-conference games.

Neither of these teams have been anything special ATS as of late, and I’ll concede that Xavier should be the favorite here. However, the Musketeers haven’t been overly impressive against the number at home this season, and while this is Ohio’s first true road test of the season, I think the Bobcats have enough talent to keep this one within single digits, so I’ll take Ohio and the points here.
