The Maryland Terrapins and the Purdue Boilermakers will meet up in college basketball action on Thursday.

Maryland cruises into this game at 7-1 overall. The Terrapins’ lone loss was to Virginia on November 28, and otherwise they’ve beaten Delaware, Navy, NC A&T, Hofstra, Mt. St. Mary’s, Marshall and Penn State.

Sandra Dukes-USA TODAY Sports

In the Nittany Lions game, Maryland’s Jalen Smith led the team on 16 points and eight rebounds, while Bruno Fernando posted a double-double on 12 points, 13 rebounds and two assists.

Over on the Purdue side, they’re 5-3 this season. The Boilermakers have taken out Fairfield, Ball State, App State, Davidson and Robert Morris but fallen to ranked teams Virginia Tech, Florida State and Michigan.

In the Wolverines game, Purdue’s lead scorer was Carsen Edwards with 19 points, six rebounds and three assists. The only other Boilermaker in double-figures was Ryan Cline on 15 points, two assists and two rebounds.

The Terrapins are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall. Maryland is 1-4 ATS in their last five following a straight-up win and 0-4 ATS in their last four following an ATS win.

Meanwhile, Purdue is 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 following an ATS loss and 7-16-1 ATS in their last 24 overall. The Boilermakers are 7-18-2 ATS in their last 27 versus the Big Ten and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 home games.

There’s not a lot to complain about with the Terrapins right now. Maryland wasn’t exactly explosive against Penn State but got the job done 66-59, and fell by just five to a very good Virginia team.

Purdue will give the Terrapins some trouble, however; the Boilermakers have scored very well in every game outside of the Wolverines loss (but no one seems to score well against Michigan these days) and pushed FSU to the brink.

I’m a little surprised Purdue is favored by so much in this one, however. I don’t see Maryland losing by that much if they do fall.
