Nevada vs. Grand Canyon - 12/9/18 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Daniel Clark-USA TODAY Sports

On the season, Nevada is averaging 86.2 ppg on 49.1% shooting from the field. The Wolf Pack are averaging 8.6 three-pointers per game on 36.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Nevada has been led by Caleb Martin (19.3 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.1 spg), Jordan Caroline (18.2 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 1.7 apg), Jazz Johnson (11.9 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 1.4 apg), and Cody Martin (10.0 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 6.1 apg, 1.0 spg).

Defensively, Nevada is holding their opponents to an average of 67.8 ppg on 40.5% shooting from the field. The Wolf Pack have a rebound margin of 4.8 and a turnover margin of 2.6.

The Grand Canyon Antelopes won their 2nd straight game and improved to 5-3 on the season after defeating the Boise State Broncos, 69-67, this past Saturday. Grand Canyon fought back from an 11-point deficit early in the 2nd half to stay a perfect 4-0 at home this season. Grand Canyon shot 48.1% from the field and forced the Broncos into committing 17 turnovers in the victory. Leading the way for the Antelopes was Carlos Johnson who had 14 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and a steal in 27 minutes from off the bench.

On the season, Grand Canyon is averaging 78.1 ppg on 45.6% shooting from the field. The Antelopes are averaging 7.0 three-pointers per game on 30.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Grand Canyon has been led by Alessandro Lever (13.0 ppg, 4.8 rpg), Carlos Johnson (10.6 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.0 apg), Damari Milstead (10.6 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.4 spg), and Trey Drechsel (10.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.1 apg).

Defensively, Grand Canyon is allowing their opponents to average 68.9 ppg on 44.0% shooting from the field. The Antelopes have a rebound margin of 4.8 and a turnover margin of 1.9.

The Wolf Pack are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Sunday games. The Antelopes are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win.

Nevada is loaded with talent this season however, I’m expected somewhat of a letdown game after the Wolf Pack coming off two big road victories at USC & Arizona State. Grand Canyon is a tough team at home and as they’ve been solid on both ends of the court, ranking T-111th in scoring offense & 123rd in scoring defense, I think the Antelopes do enough with the points to cover in this one.
