Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

On the season, Fairfield is averaging 72.7 ppg on 44.0% shooting from the field. The Stags are averaging 9.2 three-pointers per game on 39.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Fairfield has been led by Neftali Alvarez (15.4 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 3.6 apg, 2.1 spg), Landon Taliaferro (13.9 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 1.0 apg), Jonathan Kasibabu (10.2 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.2 spg), and Jesus Cruz (9.0 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.2 apg).

Defensively, Fairfield is allowing their opponents to average 77.9 ppg on 49.3% shooting from the field. The Stags have a rebound margin of -9.3 and a turnover margin of 3.0.

The Old Dominion Monarchs won their 4th straight game and improved to 6-3 on the season after defeating the William & Mary Trible, 71-53, this past Wednesday. Old Dominion dominated William & Mary on both ends of the court and had no trouble securing the victory after a 7-0 Monarchs run gave Old Dominion a 65-45 lead with 4:54 left in regulation. Old Dominion shot 50.0% from the field while holding William & Mary to just 35.0% shooting from the field and 19.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Monarchs was B.J. Stith who had a double-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 assists.

On the season, Old Dominion is averaging 64.1 ppg on 39.9% shooting from the field. The Monarchs are averaging 8.2 three-pointers per game on 34.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Old Dominion has been led by Ahmad Caver (19.2 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 4.3 apg, 1.9 spg), B.J. Stith (16.9 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.3 spg), Xavier Green (7.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.7 apg), and Marquis Godwin (5.9 ppg, 3.0 rpg).

Defensively, Old Dominion is holding their opponents to an average of 55.2 ppg on 35.7% shooting from the field. The Monarchs have a rebound margin of 5.2 and a turnover margin of 1.6.

The Stags are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 Sunday games, however, are just 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Monarchs are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400.

Fairfield has been competitive in their losses but it’s going to be hard for the Stags to have success this season if they don’t improve a defense that currently ranks 291st in scoring defense & 337th in defensive FG%. Old Dominion is a team that can struggle on the offensive end however, they can afford to do so as they have one of the best defensives in the country and currently rank 4th in scoring defense and 5th in defensive FG%. Old Dominion is a tough team to play at home and as the Fairfield offense isn’t as dynamic with Tyler Nelson no longer around, I’m taking the Monarchs to cover this large home spread.
