The Line: Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers -7 -- Over/Under: 133.5
The Cleveland State Vikings and the Milwaukee Panthers meet in Horizon League college basketball action from the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena on Thursday night.
The Cleveland State Vikings will look to jump a couple of spots in the Horizon League table, sitting at 6-10 in conference play after an 81-74 loss to Wright State, their 5th loss in 6 games last time out. Algevon Eichelberger leads Cleveland State in scoring and rebounding with 14.3 PPG and 6.5 RPG while Torrey Patton has 11.2 PPG and 5.4 RPG and Craig Beaudion has 10.4 PPG and a team-high 3.5 APG this season. As a team, Cleveland State is averaging 64 points on 41.8% shooting from the field, 29.8% from 3-point range and 66.9% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 71.6 points on 42.6% shooting from the field and 33.5% from 3-point range this season. Cleveland State is 2-11 straight up and 6-7 against the spread on the road this season.
The Milwaukee Panthers will try to create some space from the Vikings, sitting one spot above with a 7-9 conference mark after a 79-73 loss to Detroit Mercy last time out, their 3rd straight defeat. Darius Roy leads Milwaukee in scoring with 15.2 PPG while Te’Jon Lucas is right behind with 15.1 PPG and a team-high 5.1 APG this season. DeAndre Abram and Josh Thomas each have 10.2 PPG with Abram adding a team-high 6.2 RPG while Thomas has 4.4 RPG for the Panthers this season. As a team, Milwaukee is averaging 72.2 points on 41% shooting from the field, 31.9% from 3-point range and 70.7% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 73.1 points on 43.5% shooting from the field and 34.9% from 3-point range this season. Milwaukee is 7-6 straight up and 4-7 against the spread at home this season.
Head-to-head, the home team is 18-7-1 ATS in the last 26 meetings between these two teams.
I considered Cleveland State and the points after seeing that the Panthers aren’t that much further ahead in the standings than the Vikings, but the problem is that Cleveland State just can’t keep up on the road, scoring just 61 points and being outscored by 15.5 points per game away from home while Milwaukee is averaging 76.8 points per game on home soil this season. I just think this is a game that Milwaukee wins rather comfortably, so I’ll lay the points with Milwaukee here.
