The Georgia Southern Eagles and the Georgia State Panthers meet in college basketball action from GSU Sports Arena on Friday.
Georgia Southern enters this one at 17-12 so far. After falling in recent consecutive games versus Appalachian State and Texas State, Georgia Southern won their last outing versus Texas-Arlingotn Saturday.
In the win over TX-Arlington, Georgia Southern’s top scorer was Quan Jackson with 26 points, four rebounds and one assist. Elijah McCadden addd 15 points with five rebounds and five assists there, and Simeon Carter had 12 points with eight rebounds and one assist.
Over on the Georgia State side, they’re 18-11 so far. Since winning three straight over LA-Monroe, App State and Coastal Carolina, Georgia State has fallen to TX-Arlington and Texas State.
In the loss to Texas State, Georgia State lead scorer Kane Williams put up 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Corey Allen added 17 points with five rebounds and two assists in that one, and Justin Roberts had 11 points with three assists and two rebounds.
Georgia State is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 after a straight-up loss and 13-4-1 ATS in their last 18 home games. The over is 10-2 in Georgia State’s last 12 home games and 7-2 in their last nine overall.
Meanwhile, Georgia Southern is 3-0-1 ATS in their last four Friday games and 1-6 ATS in the last seven versus a team with a winning straight-up record. The under is 4-0 in Georgia Southern’s last four overall and the over is 6-2 in their last eight after an ATS win.
Georgia Southern is something of a frustrating team this year, as they’ll go through runs of a few games playing great, then they’ll cool off for a couple of outings and look like a different team. GASO fell by 15 to Texas State then turned around and beat TX-Arlington by 20 in the next game, for example.
Georgia State is similar to that at times as well, but on the whole they still manage to keep their points totals up every when they lose. I’m going to stick with Georgia State on the cover here.
