Coastal Carolina is 5-5 straight up and 4-6 against the spread on the road this season.
The Appalachian State Mountaineers will try to join the fray in the top half of the Sun Belt table, sitting at 10-8 in conference play after a 68-59 win over Troy last time out. Justin Forrest leads App State in scoring and assists with 17.9 PPG and 3 APG while O’Showen Williams has 12.8 PPG and Isaac Johnson has 10.7 PPG and a team-high 7.5 RPG this season. As a team, Appalachian State is averaging 68.3 points on 43.2% shooting from the field, 31.2% from 3-point range and 66.6% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 66.6 points on 42.3% shooting from the field and 32.2% from 3-point range this season. Appalachian State is 9-4 straight up and 5-5-1 against the spread at home this season.
Head-to-head, the home team is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
I’ve gone back and forth on this game as it could genuinely go either way. However, Coastal’s had issues for the most part on the road lately, and all of their losses on the road in conference play have come by double-digits. App State hasn’t been great against the number at home, but a lot of that comes from situations where the Mountaineers are getting too many points. I think this line is a little bit more reasonable and I think App State gets the job done at home with a win and cover in this one.
