The Line: Eastern Michigan Eagles -3.5 -- Over/Under: 139.5
The Central Michigan Chippewas and the Eastern Michigan Eagles meet in college basketball action from EMU Convocation Center on Saturday.
Central Michigan enters this one at 13-15 overall. Central Michigan is on a seven-game losing streak right now, falling to Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Akron, Ohio, Northern Illinois, Toledo and Miami-OH in that span.
In the loss to Miami, Central Michigan’s top scorer was Rob Montgomery with 11 points and seven rebounds. The only other Central Michigan player in double-digits there was David DeLeo, turning in 10 points and four rebounds on the evening.
Over on the Eastern Michigan side, they’re 15-13 this year. After a three-game win streak over Central Michigan, Western Michigan and Kent State, Eastern Michigan has fallen to Ball State and Northern Illinois in their last pair.
In the loss to Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan’s Thomas Binelli led the team on 26 points and five rebounds. Ty Groce added 12 points with four assists and one rebound, and Boubacar Toure managed a double-double on 11 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.
Eastern Michigan is 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight overall. The under is 9-3 in Eastern Michigan’s last 12 overall and 8-1 in their last nine home games.
Meanwhile, Central Michigan is 1-5 ATS in their last six after a straight-up loss and 13-3 ATS in their last 16 Saturday games. Central Michigan is 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven overall and the under is 5-2 in the last seven road games.
It’s been a tough couple of games for Eastern Illinois, who fell 64-55 toe Ball State and then took a heartbreaker loss 73-71 at home to Northern Illinois their last time out. Eastern Illinois has been scoring pretty well overall during the last five games, hitting 70 or more points in three of those.
As for Central Michigan, they’ve been spotty when it comes to scoring but haven’t done too badly lately on offense despite the losses. Still, all things considered here I feel like EMU is the safer play, especially in a comfortable environment.
