The Virginia Tech Hokies (15-13, CONF 6-11) and Louisville Cardinals (23-6, 14-4) face off in an ACC showdown at the KFC Yum! Center. Louisville has won the last six games between the two teams, but this is the first meeting between the two squads this year.
After a hot start to the season it has been a trying year for Virginia Tech and coming into this game they have lost eight of the last nine games. In the last game Virginia Tech gave Virginia everything they could handle but late in the game they couldn’t make the plays and that led to a three point defeat.
Away from home this season Virginia Tech’s offense has been an issue averaging only 61.4 points per game while shooting 39.2 percent from the field.
Guard Landers Nolley II is the star of the Hokies averaging 16.6 points per game, but others need to step up around him if they want a chance to come away with a win.
Louisville has had a lot of success this season, but coming into this game they have lost three of the last five games. In the Cardinals last game against Florida State, they were strong for the first 30 minutes of the game, but the last ten they collapsed and that led to a 15 point loss.
At home this season Louisville is averaging 77.6 points per game while giving up only 60.9 percent from the field.
Louisville is led by forward Jordan Nwora who is averaging 17.9 points while shooting 44.1 percent from the field.
As good as Nwora has been, he hasn’t been as consistent the last month and as the season wraps up, they need him playing some of the best basketball of the year.
Virginia Tech is 1-10 against the spread in their last 11 games overall. The over is 6-2-1 in the Cardinals last nine games played on Sunday.
Virginia Tech got up for their rivalry game, but in this one, they are going to struggle again, and this one is going to get out of hand early. Look for Louisville to win this game and cover the spread.
Look for Louisville to win this game by 15 or more points which will be enough for a cover of the spread.
