The Line: Quinnipiac Bobcats -6 -- Over/Under: 130
The Marist Red Foxes and the Quinnipiac Bobcats meet in college basketball MAAC-tion from the People’s United Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Marist Red Foxes will look to rebound after losing 5 of their last 6 games following a 52-50 loss to Siena last time out. Michael Cubbage leads Marist with an average of 9.3 PPG, 5.9 RPG and 3.4 APG while Matthew Herasme has 9.2 PPH and 5.1 RPG this season. As a team, Marist is averaging 60.8 points on 39.1% shooting from the field, 34.1% from 3-point range and 64.8% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 65.1 points on 41.4% shooting from the field and 33.3% from 3-point range this season. Marist is 3-11 straight up and 8-6 against the spread on the road this season.
The Quinnipiac Bobcats will try to join the fray in the middle of the MAAC standings, sitting at 8-10 in MAAC play after a 60-58 win over Fairfield last time out. Rich Kelly leads the Bobcats with 16.6 PPG and 4.5 APG while Kevin Marfo has 10.3 PPG and a team-high 13.1 RPG this season. As a team, Quinnipiac is averaging 69.6 points on 41.9% shooting from the field, 35.8% from 3-point range and 75.7% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 71.5 points on 42.9% shooting from the field and 35.7% from 3-point range this season. Quinnipiac is 7-4 straight up and 7-6 against the spread at home this season.
Head-to-head, the underdog is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams and the road team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between the two teams.
I get Quinnipiac being favored at home and Marist’s offensive numbers aren’t all that encouraging. However, while Quinnipiac has played well at home, the Bobcats haven’t been covering the number much lately, going 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games. Home court also hasn’t mattered too much in this matchup as the road team and the underdog have been having the bulk of the success between these two teams over the years. I think Marist gives Quinnipiac a battle here, so I’ll take my shot with Marist and the points in this one.
