The USF Bulls and the Temple Owls meet in AAC college basketball action from the Liacouras Center on Sunday afternoon.
The USF Bulls will try to catch up to Temple in the AAC standings, sitting at 5-10 in conference play after a 73-68 win over East Carolina last time out. David Collins leads USF in scoring with 13.9 PPG while Laquincy Rideau is 2nd in scoring and tops in assists with 12.7 PPG and 4 APG this season. Michael Durr also has a team-high 6.1 RPG for USF this season. As a team, USF is averaging 62.5 points on 40.9% shooting from the field, 30.6% from 3-point range and 64.8% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 62.4 points on 44.4% shooting from the field and 33.3% from 3-point range this season. USF is 2-6 straight up and 4-3-1 against the spread on the road this season.
The Temple Owls will try to create some space and catch up to UConn, sitting at 6-9 in conference play after a 72-69 loss to Wichita State last time out. Quinton Rose leads Temple in scoring and assists with 16.4 PPG and 3.5 APG while Nate Pierre-Louis is 2nd in scoring and tops in rebounding with 11.5 PPG and 8.3 RPG this season. As a team, Temple is averaging 69.5 points on 41% shooting from the field, 32% from 3-point range and 68.2% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 68.4 points on 40% shooting from the field and 31% from 3-point range this season. Temple is 8-5 straight up and 6-7 against the spread at home this season.
Head-to-head, the road team is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
The road team’s had the bulk of the success between the two, so the points with USF could be worth a look. However, I still worry about USF’s consistent issues with putting up offense, and while Temple isn’t the kind of team to blow other teams away, it’s going to be hard for USF to keep up if they’re putting up 50-55 points. I think this line is close to where it finishes, but I see Temple winning this one by 6-7 points, so I’ll lay the points with the Owls here.
