Brandon Childress leads Wake Forest in scoring and assists with 15.1 PPG and 4.6 APG while Olivier Sarr is 2nd in scoring and tops in rebounding with 13.6 PPG and 8.8 RPG this season. As a team, Wake Forest is averaging 73.5 points on 42.8% shooting from the field, 34.5% from 3-point range and 74.8% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 73.7 points on 42.8% shooting from the field and 32.3% from 3-point range this season. Wake Forest is 1-9 straight up and 4-6 against the spread on the road this season.
The UNC Tar Heels will also be looking to build on back-to-back wins at the bottom of the ACC standings, sitting at 5-13 in conference play after a 92-79 win over Syracuse last time out. Cole Anthony has 19.7 PPG, 5.9 RPG and 3.9 APG in 18 games this season while Garrison Brooks is 2nd with 16.1 PPG and a team-high 8.7 RPG this season. Brandon Robinson has 11.7 PPG and 2.6 APG in 20 games while Armando Bacot has 9.5 PPG and 8.1 RPG and Leaky Black has 2.5 APG this season. UNC is 6-8 straight up and 4-10 against the spread on the road this season.
Head-to-head, the underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
I get that UNC is at home and it’s senior night, but the Tar Heels almost feel like the Fresno State of the major conferences that I’ve referred to in the past and on the live shows with Mitch. UNC keeps getting all of this love in the hopes that they’ll show up and be the team we all expected to see coming into the year. News flash, the year’s almost over and so are the Tar Heels as this just wasn’t UNC’s year. Wake Forest followed up a solid win over Duke by beating a Notre Dame team that was way overvalued and this is another spot where Wake’s opponent is being overvalued. I’m not sure we get another outright Wake Forest win, but I think the Demon Deacons can take this one down to the wire. I’ll take Wake Forest and the points here.
