The Texas State Bobcats and the South Alabama Jaguars meet in college basketball action from Mitchell Center on Tuesday.
Texas State comes in here at 20-10 so far. Currently, Texas State is riding a five-game winning streak, taking out Little Rock, Arkansas State, GA Southern, Georgia State and TX-Arlington in that time.
In the 3OT win over TX-Arlington, Texas State’s Eric Terry led the team on 30 points with nine rebounds and one assist. Posting double-doubles for Texas State there were Nijal Pearson (24 points; four assists; 15 rebounds) and Marlin Davis (14 points; 10 assists; eight rebounds).
Over on the South Alabama side, they’re 19-11 this year. Currently South Alabama is on a seven-game win streak, tasing out GA Southern, Troy, Louisiana, LA-Monroe, App State, Coastal Carolina and Troy.
In the win over Troy, South Alabama’s leading scorer was Chad Lott with 22 points and six rebounds. Herb McGee added 16 points with four assists and five rebounds there, and Andre Fox had 14 points with four rebounds and one assist for South Alabama.
South Alabama is 3-7 ATS in the last 10 home games and 3-0-1 ATS in their last four after an ATS win. South Alabama is 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight overall and the over is 8-3 in their last 11 overall.
Meanwhile, Texas State is 6-1 ATS in their last seven Tuesday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. Texas State is 4-11 ATS in the last 15 after an ATS win and the over is 6-2 in their last eight road games.
Texas State put up a gutsy and tenacious 3OT road victory versus Texas-Arlington in their last outing, and it was a close one all the way. That makes 69 or more points in each of the last five games for Texas State, and at least 86 in each of their last two.
As for South Alabama, they had a weird 50-point total in a one-point win over LA-Monroe, but aside from that they’ve been firing in 70-plus-points performances with regularity these days. I like South Alabama to keep it going here and cover/win.
