The Cal State Northridge Matadors and the UC Irvine Anteaters meet in college basketball action from Bren Events Center on Wednesday.
Cal State Northridge enters this one at 13-17 on the year. After dropping consecutive games versus UC Davis and UC Irvine, Cal State Northridge has won their last two versus LBSU and CSUF.
In the win over Cal State Fullerton, CSUF’s top scorers were Lamine Diane with 27 points, 14 rebounds and four assists, and Terrell Gomez with 27 points, five assists and three rebounds. Elijah Harkless put up 14 points, four rebounds and one assist in that one as well.
Over on the UC Irvine side, they’re 21-10 this year. Currently UC Irvine is on a six-game win streak, beating UC Riverside, Hawaii, Long Beach State, CSUN, Cal Poly and UCSB in that stretch.
In the win over UCSB, UC Irvine’s top scorer was Eyassu Worku with 20 points, five assists and three rebounds. Brad Greene doubled up there with 16 points and 15 rebounds, and Tommy Rutherford had 13 points, five rebounds and one assist.
UC Irvine is 15-5-2 ATS in their last 22 home games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win. UC Irvine is 3-1-1 ATS in their last five overall and the under is 5-2 in their last seven overall.
Meanwhile, Cal State Northridge is 4-1 ATS in their last five Wednesday games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 road games. CSUN is 2-5 ATS in their last seven games after an ATS win and the over is 5-1 in their last six road games.
Cal State Northridge has been playing some pretty loose defense lately, giving up 87 or more points in three of their last four games. It hasn’t been all bad, as CSUN usually puts up enough offense to at least stay competitive, but a lot of times it’s just too much to overcome.
The last time these teams met up, UC Irvine notched an 87-64 road win. Considering UC Irvine has been pretty consistent scoring-wise lately I don’t see a lot changing here. I’m going UC Irvine on the cover.
