The Lehigh Mountain Hawks and the Colgate Raiders meet in a Patriot League tournament quarterfinal matchup in college basketball action from Cotterell Court on Thursday night.
The Lehigh Mountain Hawks will look to pull off an upset and move on to the tournament semi-finals after picking up a first-round 78-75 win over Loyola-Maryland last time out. Jordan Cohen leads Lehigh in scoring and assists with 13.9 PPG and 4.2 APG while James KArnik is 2nd in scoring with 12.5 PPG as well as 8.3 RPG in 21 games and Jeameril Wilson has 10.4 PPG and 5.4 RPG this season. As a team, Lehigh is averaging 67.9 points on 44.5% shooting from the field, 33.3% from 3-point range and 73.1% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 72.7 points on 43.6% shooting from the field and 32.7% from 3-point range this season.
The Colgate Raiders enter the Patriot League tournament as the top seed, winning the Patriot League regular season title with a 14-4 conference mark as part of his 23-8 overall record this season. Jordan Burns leads Colgate in scoring and assists with 15.6 PPG and 4.5 APG while Rapolas Ivanauskas has 12.9 PPG and 7.6 RPG and Will Rayman is right behind with 12.7 PPG and a team-high 8.9 RPG this season. Nelly Cummings has 11 PPG and Tucker Richardson has 10.6 PPG this season. As a team, Colgate is averaging 76 points on 44.8% shooting from the field, 36.2% from 3-point range and 75% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 68.3 points on 43.5% shooting from the field and 30.7% from 3-point range this season.
This feels like a lot of points to give up as Lehigh has held their own quite well lately. However, Colgate has been scoring in bunches lately, averaging 80.2 points per game across their last 5 games and I just think there’s a reason that Colgate’s in the spot that they’re in. Lehigh got the nice win against Loyola-Maryland, but Colgate is a whole different level and I just don’t know if Lehigh can hang here. I’ll lay the points with Colgate here.
