The Line: Long Beach State 49ers -5 -- Over/Under: 136
The Cal Poly Mustangs and the Long Beach State 49ers meet in college basketball action from Walter Pyramid on Thursday.
Cal Poly sits at 7-21 on the year. Cal Poly is on a five-game losing streak right now, falling to CSUN, CSUF, UC Davis, UC Rivers side and UC Irvine during their last quintet of outings.
In the loss to UC Irvine, Cal Poly’s Colby Rogers and Junior Ballard led the way on 13 points apiece, with a combined three assists and eight rebounds. Job Alexander also finished in double-digits there with 12 points, five assists and three rebounds.
Over on the Long Beach State side, they’re 10-20 this year. In the last four games, Long Beach State is 1-3, beating Hawaii while falling to UC Irvine, CSUN and UC Davis otherwise.
In the loss to UC Davis, Long Beach State’s Chance Hunter topped the team on 25 points and eight rebounds. Joshua Morgan had 14 points and eight rebounds there, and Michael Carter had 13 points, two rebounds and two assists.
Long Beach State is 1-7-1 ATS in their last nine after an ATS win and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six overall. The under is 5-1 in Long Beach State’s last six overall and the over is 4-1 in their last five Thursday games.
Meanwhile, Cal Poly is 5-13-2 ATS in their last 20 Thursday games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games. Cal Poly is 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall and the over is 8-3 in their last 11 overall.
Cal Poly has put up some good scoring outings over their last seven games, with 73 or more in five of those. That said, Cal Poly has also put up some comparable stinkers and given up a lot of points on the other side, hence the five-game losing streak.
Still, Cal Poly won the last matchup between these teams 92-75 at home, so they’ll be coming in confident. I don’t think Long Beach State can keep up if Cal Poly jumps out to a good start here, so I like the Mustangs to stop their losing streak here. I’m going Cal Poly.
