The Southern Utah Thunderbirds and the Montana State Bobcats meet in college basketball action from Worthington Arena on Thursday.
Montana State comes into this game at 15-14 so far. After a three-game losing streak to Portland State, Montana and Sacramento State, Montana State took out Northern Arizona in their last outing.
In the win over Northern Arizona, Montana State’s leading scorer was Jubrile Belo with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Harald Frey added 16 points with six assists and two rebounds there, and Borja Fernandez had 10 points with four rebounds and one assist.
Over on the Southern Utah side, they’re 15-14 this year. After a five-game losing streak dating back to February 13, Southern Utah got back in the win column versus Idaho their last time out.
In the win over Idaho, Southern Utah’s Cameron Oluyitan put up 22 points with five rebounds and three assists, and Dre Marin added 13 points with two assists and one rebound. Dwayne Morgan chipped in 10 points and four rebounds there as well.
Montana State is 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 after a straight-up win. Montana State is 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall and the over is 4-1 in their last five after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, Southern Utah is 1-5 ATS in their last six Thursday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win. Southern Utah is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 overall and the over is 5-1 in their last six after an ATS win.
Montana State has had several solid scoring outings this season, but there’s not a lot of consistency there, hence the near .500 record. Case in point, Montana State put up a combined 106 points in the Montana and Sac State games, had have been at 63 or below in each of their last three.
Southern Utah has been all over the place themselves, so it’s hard to know what to expect out of them on a game-by-game basis. In any case, I feel a little more confident with Montana State in this matchup, but it’s probably one I’m staying away from.
