The Syracuse Orange and the Miami Hurricanes meet in ACC college basketball action from the Watsco Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Syracuse Orange will try to finish the year on a high note, sitting at 10-9 in conference play after an 84-71 win over Boston College last time out. Elijah Hughes leads Syracuse in scoring and assists with 19.1 PPG and 3.6 APG while Buddy Boeheim has 15.4 PPG and Joseph Girard III has 12.7 PPG this season. Marek Dolezaj has 10.1 PPG while Bourama Sidibe leads the Orange in rebounding with 7.3 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Syracuse is averaging 74.4 points on 43.7% shooting from the field, 33.4% from 3-point range and 74.8% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 69.8 points on 41% shooting from the field and 32.5% from 3-point range this season. Syracuse is 6-4 straight up and 8-2 against the spread on the road this season.
The Miami Hurricanes will try to finish the year on a winning note, sitting at 6-13 in conference play after a 3rd straight loss in the form of a 46-44 loss to Virginia last time out. Chris Lykes leads Miami in scoring and assists with 15.2 PPG and 2.4 APG while Dejan Vasiljevic has 12.9 PPG and Kameron McGusty has 12.5 PPG this season. As a team, Miami is averaging 71.5 points on 43.3% shooting from the field, 31.8% from 3-point range and 75.6% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 73.7 points on 44.5% from the field and 34.6% from 3-point land this season. Miami is 8-5 straight up and 9-4 against the spread at home this season.
Head-to-head, the road team is 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings between these two teams.
I’ve gone back and forth on this game as the free point with Miami at home on senior day is tempting. However, Syracuse has been a beast on the road in conference play, going 6-3 SU and 8-1 ATS against ACC opposition away from the Carrier Dome. Miami plays well at home, but the Hurricanes just look like they’re running out of gas, so I’ll lay the point with Syracuse on the road here.
