The Northern Colorado Bears and the Montana State Bobcats meet in Big Sky conference college hoops from the Worthington Arena on Saturday.
The Northern Colorado Bears will try to catch Eastern Washington at the top of the Big Sky standings, sitting a game back at 14-5 in conference play after a 71-64 win over Montana last time out. Jonah Radebaugh leads Northern Colorado in scoring and assists with 16.3 PPG and 6.5 APG as well as 6.3 RPG this season while Bodie Hume has 13.9 PPG and Trent Harris has 10.7 PPG this season. Northern Colorado is 8-5 straight up and 9-4 against the spread on the road this season.
The Montana State Bobcats will look for a big home win to finish the season strong after improving to 10-9 in conference play with a 73-65 win over Southern Utah last time out. Harald Frey leads Montana State in scoring and assists with 16.7 PPG and 4.6 APG while Jubrile Belo is 2nd in scoring and tops in rebounding with 12.7 PPG and 6.2 RPG this season. Amin Adamu is also contributing 11.7 PPG for Montana State this season. As a team, Montana State is averaging 66.8 points on 44.5% shooting from the field, 33.2% from 3-point range and 74.1% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 66.7 points on 41.2% shooting from the field and 30.7% from 3-point range this season. Montana State is 9-4 straight up and 5-6 against the spread at home this season.
I get why points with a home dog like Montana State on senior day is tempting, but the problem is that Northern Colorado is heads and shoulders the better team and the Bears have been extremely good on the road this season, going 8-5 SU and 9-4 ATS. I just think that this game means more in the grand scheme of things to Northern Colorado who are trying to take hold of #2 on their own, so I’ll lay the points with Northern Colorado here.
