The Kansas Jayhawks and the Texas Tech Red Raiders meet in Big 12 conference college basketball action from United Supermarkets Arena on Saturday night.
The Kansas Jayhawks will look to try to finish the season strong, riding a 15-game winning streak after a 75-66 win over TCU last time out. Devon Dotson leads Kansas in scoring with 18.2 PPG to go along with 4 RPG and 4 APG while Udoka Azubuike is 2nd in scoring and tops in rebounding by averaging a double-double per game with 13.7 PPG and a team-high 10.4 RPG this season. Ochai Agbaji has 9.9 PPG while Marcus Garrett has 9.2 PPG and a team-high 4.7 APG this season. As a team, Kansas is averaging 74.9 points on 48.7% shooting from the field, 34.8% from 3-point range and 66.9% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 60.7 points on 37.7% shooting from the field and 30.5 from 3-point range this season. Kansas is 10-1 straight up and 8-2 against the spread on the road this season.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders will try to break free in the middle of the Big 12, sitting at 9-8 in conference play after a 3rd straight loss in the form of a 71-68 loss to Baylor last time out. Jahmi’us Ramsey leads Texas Tech in scoring with 15.4 PPG while Davide Moretti has 12.8 PPG and Kyler Edwards is 3rd with 11.7 PPG this season. Terrence Shannon Jr. has 9.9 PPG and Chris Clarke has team-highs of 6.6 RPG and 4.7 RPG this season. As a team, Texas Tech is averaging 72.3 points on 45.5% shooting from the field, 35.7% from 3-point range and 75.7% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 63.4 points on 40.6% shooting from the field and 31.1% from 3-point range this season. Texas Tech is 13-3 straight up and 7-9 against the spread at home this season.
Head-to-head, the home team is 22-10 ATS in the last 32 meetings between these two teams.
Getting points with a solid home team like Texas Tech on Senior Day is extremely tempting and I’d be on it 9 times out of 10. However, the one time is this circumstance as Kansas is just on fire right now and can lock up the outright Big 12 regular season crown with a win here. I just think there’s too much here for Kansas to take their foot off of the gas here, so I’ll take my chances with Kansas laying the points on the road here.
