The Chattanooga Mocs and the UNC Greensboro Spartans meet in college basketball action from US Cellular Center on Saturday.
Chattanooga comes into this Southern Conference Tournament matchup at 19-12 so far. Chattanooga is 3-1 in their last four games, falling to Mercer and otherwise beating the Citadel, VMI and UNC Greensboro.
In the win over UNC Greensboro last weekend, Chattanooga’s leading scorer was Ramon Vila with 21 points and six rebounds. The only other Mocs player in double-figures there was Matt Ryan on 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Over on the UNC Greensboro side, they’re 23-8 overall this season. Following a recent six-game winning streak, UNC Greensboro has lost two consecutive games versus Furman and Chattanooga.
In the loss last Saturday versus Chattanooga, UNC Greensboro’s Kaleb Hunter led the way on 21 points and six rebounds. Also in double-figures there for UNCG was Isaiah Miller with 16 points, seven assists and four rebounds.
UNC Greensboro is 0-3-1 ATS in their last four after an ATS loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five Saturday games. UNC Greensboro is 0-4 ATS in their last four overall and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six neutral-site games.
Meanwhile, Chattanooga is 6-1 ATS in their last seven overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win. Chattanooga is 8-3-2 ATS in their last 13 Saturday games and 7-15-1 ATS in their last 23 neutral-site games.
This matchup comes on the heels of the somewhat odd occurrence of the teams playing each other in their previous game. That one last Saturday was tight pretty much the whole way, with Chattanooga edging out a 74-72 win. That makes four straight games with at least 71 points for the Mocs.
As for UNCG, they were pretty off in the Furman game but did look a little better last Saturday. This one is probably going to be another tight game, and I feel slightly better about Chattanooga banging out a cover. As for the over/under total, I expect both teams here to fire away and we should have a pretty big number here.
